Jams on the Sand returns to Asbury Park’s beach for the third installment of the popular free concert series that rolls songs, sand and summer into one successful event.

Kicking off on Thursday, June 21 Jams on the Sand, presented by The Anchor’s Bend and The Asbury Park Press, will take place every Thursday night from 5 to 10 p.m. All the fun takes place right on the Beach Stage at The Anchor’s Bend, 1300 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park.

The concert series will continue on Thursday nights in the summer ending the season on Aug. 30. Concerts are for those 21 and over and happy hour can be enjoyed from 5 to 7 p.m. CB3 Organ Trio, fueled by groove and reckless precision, consists of Chris Buono, Ben Stivers and Tobias Ralph who will open each concert every week.

Edward Maier, events coordinator at Madison Marquette, previously shared with Night and Day the story of how Jams on the Sand became what it is today.

“In the summer of 2015 Eric Lindell, a New Orleans blues rocker, shot me a call and said he was going to stay in Asbury Park for a few extra days after our sold-out show at The Saint,” said Maier.  “He was looking for an extra gig on his days off. I suggested the beach at Anchor’s Bend. With 48 hours of promo time, we had 450 people show up for the free concert on the beach.

“During the winter that followed, Anchor’s Bend was looking for a way to drive weekday business and with the success of the Lindell show, the free summer series was born,” he continued. “I went after national touring bands that already had a following and I thought even the passersby would come onto the beach and get a drink.”

On June 21, Mihali and Bencoolen will take the stage for the first show of the season. Following them up on June 28 will be Pink Talking Fish.

Kung Fu will take the stage on July 5 and Aqueous will jam the night away on July 12. On July 19 Organ Freeman will perform followed by Juice and Little Stranger on July 26. Locos Por Juana kick off the month on Aug. 2. On Aug. 9 Ikebe Shakedown will perform followed by Mungion on Aug. 16.

Aztec Sun will rock the stage on Aug. 23 and on Aug. 30 New Kingston will conclude the summer concert series on the beach.
