Waypoint 622 owners purchase Simko’s property

BRIELLE — The Simko’s Bar and Grill property at 403 Higgins Ave., has been acquired by Hoffman’s Marina LLC, the owners of Waypoint 622 and River Cafe.

The restaurant is still open for lunch, dinner and private parties — “the same quality service and food that we always have,” said Mike Simko, owner of Simko’s Grill. All gift cards and reservations will still be honored. Parties will be booked through mid-June only.

According to Larry Grafas, owner of Hoffman’s Marina, the restaurant will continue to be operated by Mr. Simko and his employees until at least the middle of June.

Mr. Simko elaborated, “The only thing different is that I pay him [Mr. Grafas] rent instead of paying the bank on my mortgage.”

In a news release, Mr. Grafas said he plans to transform the property into a “comfortable, family-friendly neighborhood gathering place featuring a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere.”

An expansion is also planned for the current catering room so that it can accommodate parties of up to 150 guests, Mr. Grafas said.
