Panthers plan on swimming success this season

The Point Boro boys and girls swimming teams have a record number, 66, of club swimmers on the roster this season and head coach Patty Ryan is looking to utilize their experience and leadership inside and outside of the pool.

“We haven’t had this many club swimmers on our team since probably when we started the team,” said Ryan. “I’m really looking for this to be a good year … I think we will have a good run for some post-season swim.”

Both teams have also hit a record number of swimmers this season, the boys team with 22 and the girls with 44.

The combination of numbers and club experience is the right formula for a successful season and will hopefully push the Panthers toward their season goal of an over .500 record and into the postseason.

Helping Boro reach those goals is the number of multi-sport athletes on both rosters. Between all 66 swimmers, only 10 are strictly swimmers.

“Most of the kids play other sports,” Ryan said. “I feel like them playing another sport is really getting them ready for a competitive swim season and will help us be successful.”
