BELMAR — Main Street is set to turn into a Christmas shopping wonderland this weekend.
The third annual Main Street Experience will take place from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 2.
The annual event will feature 25 shops along Belmar’s Main Street offering deals, treats and playing host to local crafters, vendors and artisans.
In addition to the shopping, there will be a hot chocolate station in Pyanoe Plaza, musicians and carolers will be strolling up and down Main Street, and a free trolley will transport shoppers. Homemade cookies will be given out by the Tandem Bike Inn and the Inn at the Shore.
Each shopper will be given a map of the participating stores and crafters and vendors at each store, along with a free tote bag. Each store will stamp the map, and those who visit every store will be eligible for a gift basket raffle at the end of the night at JB Couture Cupcakes, located at 904 Main St.
Last year, the night of shopping drew 600 visitors to Belmar, said event organizer Barbara Bucceri, of JB Couture Cupcakes. Ms. Bucceri and her daughter, Jessica, started the event three years ago.
“It’s been growing every year. We’re just trying to help the town,” said Ms. Bucceri. “We want to bring attention to Main Street in Belmar.”
“Everybody will be doing something special,” said Ms. Bucceri, referring to the participating shops, who will be offering giveaways or free samples all evening to the shoppers.
Shoppers can pick up their free shopping bags and shop map at JB Couture Cupcakes, or at the hot cocoa station in Pyanoe Plaza Saturday night. Ms. Bucceri said that there will be a DJ stationed outside of the cupcake shop playing music and emceeing the event as well.
The free trolley will have stops at Pyanoe Plaza, the corner of 6th Avenue and Main Street and the corner of 12th Avenue and Main Street.
