MANASQUAN — For more than 20 years, Squan’s annual holiday hayride has spread holiday cheer across the town, and this year is no exception.

On Sunday, Dec. 10 from noon to 2 p.m., join Santa and Mrs. Claus on a holiday hayride, presented by the Manasquan Tourism Commission and sponsored by Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L). This will fall on the Open House weekend, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, on Dec. 9 and 10.

Hayrides will start in front of Manasquan Lighting, 126 Main St., where refreshments such as cider, cookies and more will be served. From here, participants can hop on one of the two wagons available, which are brought by Atlantic Farms. One of the two Claus’ will be on each wagon for children to see before Santa and Mrs. Claus before the big and annual trip from the North Pole.

After departure, the wagons will bring riders two blocks down on Main Street, will turn on Broad Street past Squan Tavern and then up Parker Avenue. Carolers from the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan will sing traditional holiday songs for riders, shoppers and visitors to hear throughout the day.

Additionally, three lucky winners will receive $100 each of ‘Manasquan money,’ which are gift cards that can be spent at any business in the borough; winners must be present to receive the money.

“It’s a nice event and we hope everybody comes out and shops at our local businesses,” said Ray Summers, chairman of the Manasquan Tourism Commission.
