Point Borough advances to state final by beating Manasquan


POINT PLEASANT — The undefeated Point Borough football team advanced to the NJSIAA Central Group II final with a 27-6 victory over Manasquan on Friday, Nov. 17.

“They [Manasquan] are the defending champions, it just fired us up to come out here and put on a show,” said senior running back Brandon Cipriano. “To have that type of game here especially with all the fans, it just felt great. 

Cipriano ran for two touchdowns and also caught a pair of touchdown passes. He finished the night with three receptions for 108 yards and nine carries for 70 yards.

“Anything I can do to help contribute to the team, it just feels really great,” he said.

The Panthers forced five turnovers, including two interceptions from senior cornerback John Callander and junior cornerback Kyle Komanitsky.

Point Borough will face Hillside in the championship game at Rutgers University in Piscataway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
