MANASQUAN – They raced around town for Squan’s 30th annual Turkey Run on Saturday.
The Manasquan Turkey Run Inc. hosted its 30th annual run, just in time for the start of the holiday season. Over 2,000 participants gathered at 10 and 11 a.m. to run through the streets of the borough.
“It went very well,” said Carmen Triggiano, director of the Turkey Run. This year was Mr. Triggiano’s 17th year with the organization and his fourth year as the direction.
Additions were made to ensure safety in the borough for the Nov. 18 event, Mr. Triggiano said. After a bombing incident at a run in Seaside, it was determined that extra precautions were needed. An “Eye in the Sky” tower was brought by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, which recorded a 360-degree view of the event; all angles of the route could be seen on camera.
Mr. Triggiano also said that there were canine units at the event for the first time. Two were brought by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department; one canine was brought by the Wall Township Police Department.
