Voters in shore towns chose members of local governing bodies and school boards at the polls Tuesday.

Phil Murphy, Democrat, defeated Kim Guadagno, Republican, in the race for governor. Also up for election were all 40 seats in the State Senate and all 80 seats in the General Assembly.
In Monmouth County, there were competitive races for Wall Township Committee as well as borough councils in Belmar and Spring Lake Heights.Voters in Avon-By-The-Sea, Lake Como, Sea Girt, Spring Lake Heights and Wall Township also found competitive board of education races on their ballots. In Ocean County, there were competitive races for Brick Township mayor and council, as well as Bay Head, Point Pleasant Borough and Point Pleasant Beach councils. MONMOUTH COUNTY WINNERS SHOWN IN BLUE BELOW
Wall Township Committee: Four candidates competed for two seats: Incumbent George Newberry [R], Carl Braun [R], Anne Marie Conte [I] and David Fretz [D].
Belmar Borough Council: Incumbent Thomas Brennan [D] was challenged by Joshua Vallario [R].
Spring Lake Heights Borough Council: Four candidates competed for two seats: Christopher Campion [R], James R. Shuler [R], Lisa Ball-O’Brien [D] and Sandra M. Denison [D].
Avon-By-The-Sea BOE: Six candidates vyed for three seats: Andrea Magovern, Joan Wyndrum O’Hear, Janice Cuttingham, Kenneth Child, Kristin Scrabis-Fletcher and William Looney.
Lake Como BOE: Three candidates vyed for two seats: Michele Cartaya, Debra Russo and Barbara Carol Hope.
Sea Girt BOE: Three candidates are vyed for two seats: Thomas P. Loughlin, Hilary DiFeo and Todd C. Leonhardt.
Spring Lake Heights BOE: Two candidates competedf or one seat: Randy Flaum and Scott Barrington.
Wall Township BOE: Six candidates competed for three seats: Allison Connolly, Kenneth F. Wondrack, Adam Hayek, Sr., Christopher San Filippo, Anne Marie Menges and Robin Lynch.
Borough Council races in Brielle, Lake Como, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake were all uncontested. Also uncontested were school board races in Belmar, Bradley Beach, Brielle, Manasquan and Spring Lake.
OCEAN COUNTY WINNERS SHOWN IN BLUE BELOW
Brick Township Mayor: Incumbent Mayor John Ducey [D] was challenged by Ruthanne Scaturro [R] and independent candidates Anthony Matthews and Robert Candfield.
Brick Township Council: Six candidates vyed for three seats: incumbent council members Heather deJong [D], Marianna Pontoriero [D] and Paul Mummolo [D], and challengers Marilyn Lago [R], John Ciocco [R] and Lois Turner [R].
Bay Head Borough Council: Three candidates ran for two seats: Incumbent Jennifer Barnes-Gambert [R], Incumbent Brian Magory [R], and write-in Dennis Shaning.
Point Pleasant Borough Council: Four candidates competed for two seats: Incumbent Pamela Snyder [R], Incumbent John Wisniewski [R], Peter Hagemeyer [D] and Derek Reichenbecher [D]
Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council: Four candidates faced off for two borough council seats. Incumbent Councilman Tom Migut [R], Paul Kanitra [R], Don Rodgers [D] and Russell Kelly [D].
Brick Township Board of Education: Three candidates vyed for two seats: incumbent board member John Barton, Maria Foster and Jessica Clayton.
Point Pleasant Borough Board of Education: Five candidates vyed for two seats: Incumbent Ricardo Ruiz, John Florio, Timothy Harrison, Cheryl Salway and Joan Speroni.
Council races in Mantoloking and Lavallette were all uncontested. Also uncontested were school board races in Bay Head, Lavallette and Point Pleasant Beach.
A contested race for two seats on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders pit Republicans Lillian Burry and Patrick G. Impreveduto against Democrats Brian Wilton and Margie Donlon.
A contested race for one seat on the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders pit Republican incumbent Joseph Vicari against Democrat Helen Dela Cruz.
