POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Students from local towns gathered for a competitive Olympic Night Tuesday, but the event was more about sportsmanship and having a good time than taking home a medal.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for neighboring schools to get together in a competitive yet friendly event that lets all kids participate and excel and still leave with a smile,” Point Pleasant Beach Schools Superintendent Will Smith said.
“I think while it is highly competitive and there is a lot of pride at stake, the reality is everyone is having a good time.”
On Oct. 10, around 200 students from G. Harold Antrim Elementary School, Bay Head Elementary School, Lavallette Elementary School, St. Peter School, St. Catharine School in Spring Lake and Brielle Elementary School competed in track and field events on the Donald T. Fioretti Field at Antrim School.
