WALL TOWNSHIP — The inaugural meeting of the Friends of the Capital to the Coast Trail drew more than 45 people on Saturday and was pronounced a success by Fred Lockenmeyer, the project’s facilitator.
“I believe we accomplished a number of our goals,” Mr. Lockenmeyer said in a statement.
He said the “strong interest” shown by participants provided “the needed encouragement to continue on with the completion of the trail,” between Manasquan and Trenton.
The proposed multi-use trail would run through 12 New Jersey towns — including Manasquan and Wall Township — two state parks, five county parks, one federal park and one state college.
According to Mr. Lockenmeyer, seven communities were represented at the meeting, including Manasquan Councilman Jeff Lee, who volunteered to become an active participant, Mr. Lockenmeyer said.
