LAKE COMO — The borough has received a grant from the state Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, to fund the Cops in Shops College Summer Shore Initiative program.
This program is a combined effort of the Division of Highway Safety, the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Belmar Police Department.
The recommendation to accept the $6,000 grant came from the Lake Como Borough Administrator, Louise Mekosh, and the Belmar Police Department. The borough council unanimously voted to accept the grant.
Lake Como is among the local towns that participate in the Cops in Shops program. The program has been around since the summer of 2013 when Lake Como was one of 28 police departments to implement this initiative.
