Police make arrest in lewdness cases


POINT PLEASANT — An arrest has been made following an investigation into four lewdness incidents that have occurred over the last several months, according to Point Pleasant Borough Police Department Capt. Robert Lokerson.

Capt. Lokerson announced the arrest via a press release Monday, Aug. 21.

“On Friday, Aug. 18, Detective Joseph Hynes arrested Joseph D. Perello II, 24 years old, from Point Pleasant,” he said.

According to the release, Mr. Perello was charged with five counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of fourth- degree lewdness and two counts of disorderly persons lewdness.

“The arrest was a result of a continuing investigation into four lewdness incidents which involved five juvenile victims,” Capt. Lokerson said.

According to Capt. Lokerson, the incidents occurred on four dates; Feb. 16, 2017; Feb. 23, 2017; April 4, 2017 and Aug. 1, 2017 at different locations in the borough.

Mr. Perello was released pending his initial appearance in Ocean County Superior Court.
