Juniors Hart and Dragon to lead the veteran Panthers

POINT BORO — With the Point Boro Panthers cross-country team coming off its fifth straight 7-0 season, along with winning the B South Conference, the 12-man roster features two juniors in Devin Hart and Luke Dragon.

Head coach Kevin Coheeney titled the two juniors as his leaders, calling them the team’s “one, two punch.”

After placing eighth in the Meet of Champions [MOC] a year ago, Hart is the No. 1 returner for the state. All of the racers who finished before Hart at MOC graduated in the spring, making him the youngest runner to place in the top 10 last season.

Although Hart eyes first place at the MOC, he has high expectations for the team as well.

“We definitely want to win Ocean County champs and then maybe a sectional title,” Hart said. “I think those are possible if we keep the training going and stay accountable.”

Hart’s success in the last two seasons has sparked many of his fellow runners to compete at a higher level.
