Strings by the Sea to perform free beach concert

AVON-BY-THE-SEA — Strings by the Sea will perform their final free concert of the season on Tuesday, Aug. 22. All ages are invited to the concert, which will be held on the Avon Boardwalk behind the Avon Pavilion beginning at 7:30 p.m. As seating will not be provided, guests are asked to bring beach chairs. The all-Broadway concert will feature Wall High School students Michelle Fox, Jenna Iorio, Grace Claudio, Megan Tronolone, Grace Tronolone, Caroline Pilla, Natasha Collett and Giuliana Stillo. Additional members of the group include adult student Patsy Brodsky as well as sixth-grade student Brigid Cosgrove, of Spring Lake, who will give a solo performance. The ensemble is led by string orchestra teacher and Kean University music Professor Kathleen McGee-Daly. “I loved, as a kid, when all the instruments came together and played in an ensemble, and I wanted to have my students experience that … It started out on my porch in Avon. We would play on my front porch and anyone who came to the concert would bring a chair and sit on my lawn,” said Ms. Daly.
