BRICK TOWNSHIP — An Ohio teen was pronounced dead at Ocean Medical Center after he was taken to the hospital by friends. Austin Siler, 19, of Kettering, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick Township on Friday, Aug. 4 at 8:21 a.m., according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. The Brick Township Police Department responded to the hospital after a call from emergency room staff, reporting that Mr. Siler had been transported to the hospital by friends, according to a press release from the prosecutor’s office. Hospital staff attempted life saving measures with no success. In addition to the Brick Township Police Department, Detective John Carroll, of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, responded to the scene to conduct a death investigation along with members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. According to the release, there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Siler’s death is connected to any criminal activity. The investigation is ongoing, pending toxicology reports from the medical examiner.
