According to Manasquan Fire Marshal Chris Barkalow, the initial dispatch for the fire came in at 7:22 p.m., after the shop was closed for the weekend. Manasquan Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 and Manasquan Volunteer Engine Co. No. 2 initially responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Manasquan Fire Chief Dave Kircher requested mutual aid, said Mr. Barkalow. Brielle Fire Department, Sea Girt Fire Department, South Wall Fire Department and the Asbury Park Fire Department also responded to the scene. According to Mr. Barkalow, one firefighter was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. All the fire damage was contained to the original fire building, said Mr. Barkalow. Route 71 was closed to traffic until approximately 10 p.m., and the scene was cleared around 11:30 p.m., said Mr. Barkalow. The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation by the Manasquan Fire Marshal and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal.
