Valhalla’s Pirates show cancelled due to inclement weather

POINT PLEASANT —The crew comprising the Point Pleasant Beach-based Valhalla’s Pirates will have to sail the high seas a little longer than expected. The sixth annual “Pirates in the Park” program scheduled to take place Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park, has been rescheduled due to inclement weather conditions. A statement on the Point Pleasant Borough Facebook page states: “Due to inclement weather, tonight’s Valhalla’s Pirates show at Riverfront Park on River Road has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m. Thank you for your understanding.”
Led by Capt. Charles Black, portrayed by Point Pleasant chiropractor Charles Waldron, the program is based on the Golden Age of Piracy from 1670 to 1730 and offers an evening of swordfighting, treasure hunting and swashbuckling fun.
The show is presented by the borough’s Recreation Department and sponsored by ASAP Blinds, Inc. in Manasquan.
