BRADLEY BEACH — The Bradley Beach Library has collected over 3,000 pairs of shoes in an effort to raise funds for the borough’s public library. The library is using Funds2Orgs to organize the fundraiser. The organization’s website explains, “The shoes [collected] are consolidated by Funds2Orgs and shipped to developing nations around the world. In turn, the shoes are sold by micro-entrepreneurs who seek a hand-up, not a hand-out, from poverty.” When Funds2Orgs collects the shoes, they then send a check to the library for whatever is deemed the appropriate amount based on how many shoes were collected. Collections bins are set at the Bradley Beach Library, Bradley Beach Municipal Building, Jersey Shore Fitness Center, Kearny Bank; 312 Evergreen Ave., 107 Ocean Park Ave. and Art & Sole in Avon-by-the-Sea. These locations for shoe donations will be set up until July 31. Jeanne Beaudette, president of the library board, expressed her gratitude to everyone who has been donating at all of the locations.
