POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Visitors at Jenkinson’s Aquarium will now be able to see firsthand the benefits that oysters could bring to Barnegat Bay. On July 12, members of the American Littoral Society, along with a Stockton University marine biologist, opened an educational exhibit on the filter feeders at Jenkinson’s Aquarium. The aim of the exhibit is to educate children and the public about the importance of reintroducing oysters into the Barnegat Bay as well as open a dialogue with residents of the shore area. “We’re not just going out and doing it on our own and monitoring it on our own, we want to get the people who live on the water to understand what we are doing as well and be a part of it,” said Christine M. Thompson, a professor at Stockton University.
