Body of Philadelphia woman discovered in Brick


BRICK TOWNSHIP — The body of a Philadelphia woman was discovered in a car in a 7-Eleven parking lot on Burnt Tavern Road.

The woman was identified as Moiyamoe Foffanah, 21, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to a statement from Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ms. Foffanah’s body was discovered on Wednesday, July 12, at 7:19 p.m. by an unidentified Brick Township patrol officer at 1151 Burnt Tavern Road.

According to Mr. Della Fave, the officer observed a blue Honda Accord which had been parked in the same parking spot the previous night. A woman could be seen seated in the front passenger seat.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer determined that the woman appeared unconscious and unresponsive, according to Mr. Della Fave.

The patrolman forced entry into the vehicle and found Ms. Foffanah deceased, Mr. Della Fave said.

Dr. Leslie Cauvin, of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, pronounced Ms. Foffanah dead at 7:30 p.m.

There were no outward signs of trauma to the body, according to Mr. Della Fave. The body was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office pending a report from the medical examiner citing the cause and manner of death, according to Mr. Della Fave.
