BRADLEY BEACH — The holiday weekend brought record breaking crowds to Bradley Beach, according to borough officials.

Mayor Gary Engelstad said that Sunday, July 2 was one of Bradley Beach’s “biggest days, if not the biggest day ever in terms of the number of people on the beach.”

While the official revenue numbers have not come out due to the closing of borough offices for the holiday, the feedback from badge sellers, gate attendants, lifeguards and police have told the story of the mass numbers that migrated to Bradley Beach this weekend. Mr. Engelstad said, “People were walking seven to eight blocks to get to the beach from their parked car.”

“I was at the beach myself on Tuesday, and it was hard to find a spot to put down the chairs,” Mayor Engelstad said, speaking to the sizeable crowd that took to the beach on the Fourth of July.
