BRICK TOWNSHIP — Zachary Canace, 42, of Brick, was arrested by Brick Township police officers after allegedly robbing a bank, officials said.
According to a press release from the Brick Township Police Department, officers responded to TD Bank at 2292 Hooper Ave. for a robbery at 11:38 a.m. on Monday, June 19.
Mr. Canace allegedly approached a teller and stated, “I need 5000 G’s strapped to go. Do not hit the alarm button and nobody gets hurt, just give me my $5000 now,” according to the press release.
The teller, who was not identified, gave the suspect money and he left, according to the release.
A teller who recognized Mr. Canace gave his description to Officer Robert Herschle, who provided that information to responding units.
Police dispatched to Mr. Canace’s Drake Road residence and established a perimeter, according to the release.
Mr. Canace soon exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. At that time, police recovered all of the proceeds from the robbery and charged Mr. Canace with robbery and theft, according to the release.
Mr. Canace was transported to the Ocean County Jail.
