Thomas W. Stabile
Lavallette resident Thomas W. Stabile died Sunday, May 17 in his West Point Island home with his family by his side.
He was 80 years old.
Born in Bound Brook, he lived in Somerville and Bridgewater prior to moving to West Point Island 30 years ago.
Thomas was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School New Brunswick. He then attended Sea Girt Police School. He worked for the Somerville Police Department for 28 years, retiring as detective lieutenant in 1980.
He was a past president of Somerville PBA No. 147; a charter member and past president of Central Jersey Law Enforcement Association; a member of Somerset County Prosecutor’s Task Force; and a member of Lincoln Hose Fire Company for 30 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Louise [DeLorenzo] Stabile, in 2007; and his son, Kenneth J.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra J. Moss, of Sunrise, Fla., and Kathryn A. Teeling, of Readington; six grandchildren, William, Kelly, Matthew, Pamela, Deborah and Michael; one brother, William Stabile, of Somerville; and a sister, Vivian Flower, of Watchung.
Committal was private. The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Muriel K. Duphorn
Lavallette resident Muriel K. Duphorn died Tuesday, May 19 at Hackensack Hospital.
She was 76 years old.
Born in Newark and formerly of Union, she has lived the past 28 years in Lavallette.
Muriel graduated from Prospect Hill High School in Newark. Mrs. Duphorn worked for Bamberger’s Auto Center in Springfield and Macy’s in Toms River.
She enjoyed vacationing in Sarasota, Fla. for the past 15 years and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and family.
She was the wife of 55 years to William R. Duphorn, of Lavallette; mother of Janice Duphorn, of Morristown, Robin Vaughan, of Hopatcong, and William Duphorn, of Rockaway; and grandmother of Christopher Mallon, Caitlin Vaughan, Kyle Vaughan and Lauren Duphorn.

Mattie Scacco
Stuart, Fla. resident Mattie Scacco, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Thursday, May 14 in her home after a battle with cancer.
She was 65 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a resident of Stuart for 18 years, moving from Point Pleasant.
Prior to retirement, Mattie was a Mary Kay consultant for 10 years, and employed at Patrick Stracuzzi Realty in Stuart for four years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Marge Ribellino; and her brother, George Ribellino.
She is survived by two sons, Vincent Peter Scacco Jr., of Racine, Wis., and John James Scacco, of Geneoa, Ohio.; a daughter, Dawn Marie Crouch of Allen, Texas; eight grandchildren; a brother, James Ribellino, of Stuart, Fla.; and two sisters, Harriet Ciabattari, of Stuart, Fla., and Denise Hennessey, of Baja, Mexico.
The Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.

Philip Anthony Emanuele
Waverly, N.Y. resident Philip Anthony Emanuele, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, May 13 in Pittsburgh.
He was 68 years old.
He was born in Newark and lived in Toms River and Old Bridge before moving to Waverly in 1992.
He received a degree in child psychology and business management, as well as studied for the priesthood. He attended Rutgers University.
He was in the Army National Guard Reserves.
Mr. Emanuele was a product planner for Dumont Laboratories from 1958 to 1965, a control supervisor for NASA from 1965 to 1971 and leader of a band, Sonny Ray & The Del-Rays, from 1971 until his retirement in 1983.
He was predeceased by his parents, Felice and Evelyn Emanuele.
He is survived by his children, Tara Oquendo, of Point Pleasant, Philip and his wife, Loren Emanuele, of Brick, and Victoria and her husband, Ellis Champion, of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Anesa and Alejandro Oquendo and Olivia Emanuele, and one on the way; his brother, Richard Emanuele, of Las Vegas; and a lifelong friend, Mark Struble, of Waverly.
The Fiore Funeral Home, Ocean Township, was in charge of arrangements.

Donald T. Auge
Point Pleasant resident Donald T. Auge died Friday, May 15 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 88 years old.
Born in Rahway, he lived in Manasquan and Wall before moving to Point Pleasant 35 years ago.
Mr. Auge was a marine electrician for Johnson Brothers, Point Pleasant, for over 20 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW, Point Pleasant Beach.
Mr. Auge is survived by his wife, Joan Killoch Auge; his daughter, Karen Crane, of Hopkinton, Mass.; a sister, Jean Cartwright, of Clark; a granddaughter, Eva; his niece, Susan Mattes; and his nephew, Thomas Cartwright. Donald is also survived by his good friend, Molly.
The Neary Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements. Cremation was private.

Frank T. Villa
Whiting resident Frank T. Villa, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, May 16 in his home.
He was 84 years old.
Born in Manhattan, he lived in Brick before moving to the Pine Ridge South section of Whiting in 1999.
Frank was a self-employed general contractor for 20 years, and a chauffer for Concorde Worldwide in Freehold for three years.
He was president of the Crestwood Village Sun Board of Trustees, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bingo Committee and Pine Ridge Players.
Frank was predeceased by his brother, Ronald.
Frank is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra [Liguori] Villa; three sons, Anthony and his wife, Lisa, of Bellingham Mass.; Craig and his wife Bridgette, of Bayville; and Chris and his wife, Sharon, of Brick; his daughter, Lisa and her husband, Gregory White, of Point Pleasant; two brothers, Lawrence T. Villa, of Newburgh, N.Y., Vincent W. Villa of Long Branch; and one sister, Marita DeStefano, of Andover. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Andrew, Trevor, Devon, Gavin and Danielle.
Arrangements were by the Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, Whiting. Entombment was at Whiting Memorial Park.

Elizabeth L. Baner
Belford resident Elizabeth L. Baner, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, May 16, in Care One at King James, Middletown.
She was 86 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, and lived there most her life. In recent years, she moved to Belford to live with her son, William, and his family.
She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Baner, in 1991.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons and their wives, William C. and Kathleen Baner, of Belford, and James and Ceil Baner, of Point Pleasant. She is also survived by her ex-daughter-in-law, Letty Baner, who is the mother of Elizabeth’s grandchildren Gina, James and Jenna. Elizabeth is also grandmother to Bridget, William Jr., Joseph and Kaitlin; and is survived by one great-granddaughter.
Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford, was in charge of the arrangements. Entombment was at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.

Olga [nee Maiocco] Petitti
Lavallette resident Olga [nee Maiocco] Petitti died Thursday May 14 at home.
She was 93 years old.
Born in Faeto, Italy, she lived in Irvington summering in Lavallette since 1957 moving to Lavallette in 1978.
She was a homemaker.
She was a parishioner of St. Pio Pietrelcina Roman Catholic Church, Lavallette, and a member of the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of Lavallette Seniors, Seaside Heights Italian American Club, Deborah Foundation, Lavallette Voters and Taxpayers and the Irvington General Hospital Auxiliary.
Having had limited opportunity for formal education herself, Olga instilled in her children a love of learning and a desire for achievement leading them to judicial, educational and financial professions.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 2005.
Surviving is one son, Robert A., and his wife, Judy, of Red Bank; and three daughters Rosemarie Annunziata and her husband, Joseph, of Fairfax, Va., Amelia Quaremba and her husband, James, of Slingerlands, N.Y., and Joanne Filippone and her late husband, Richard, of West Point Island, Lavallette. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Elise, Catherine, Christine, Matthew, Meghan, Adrienne, Nicholas, Danielle, and Robert C.; and four great-grandchildren Celia, Ryder, Olivia, and Aidan.
The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette, was in charge of arrangements. Entombment took place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.

Lawrence Henry Simpson
Brick resident Lawrence Henry Simpson, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, May 16, in Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brick Township.
He was 85 years old.
Born in New York City in 1924, Larry served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific, and after his discharge in 1945 he began his career as a professional actor and singer performing in clubs in Florida, the Poconos and in summer stock.
Larry owned the ’76 Pub in New York City for many years, and moved to New Jersey in 1968, and to Brick in 1983.
Combining his love of singing with a wry sense of humor and wit, Larry was known to the family as “the Irish tenor” because of his beautiful voice. He loved to make people laugh, entertaining family and friends throughout the years, most recently at his 40th wedding anniversary party.
Larry loved to spend time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren smile.
He was a member of the VFW Post No. 8867, the American Legion Post No. 348 and the DAV, and was a communicant at St. Dominic’s Church.
Larry was predeceased by his sisters, Rosaleen Spiesse and Eileen Fahy; and by his brother, Kevin Simpson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; and daughters, Colleen Simpson, of Point Pleasant and Erin Simpson Beelitz and her husband, Jason, of Brick; and his grandsons, Sean, Aidan and Declan Beelitz; his brother, Thomas Simpson, of Concord, N.C.; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, both in the U.S. and in Ireland.

Frank Duvak
Point Pleasant resident Frank Duvak died Monday, May 18 in Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
He was 81 years old.
He was born in Woodbridge and lived in Fords for 45 years before moving to Point Pleasant five years ago.
Mr. Duvak was in the Army during World Wara II.
He was a first class machinist for General Dynamics, Avenel, and for Thul Machine, Plainfield.
He was a member of the VFW, in Point Pleasant Beach Post No. 4715
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Piosko Duvak; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane M. and Roger Canary, of Point Pleasant; and his grandson, Ryan Canary.
The Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach, is in charge of arrangements. A funeral service will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
