Ronald F. Lehman

Toms River resident Ronald F. Lehman, whose sons reside in Point Pleasant, died Monday, April 16 in Kensington Manor, Toms River.

He was 58 years old.

Ronald was in truck sales for 25 years with DeLuxe Sales in Hackensack. He then worked for Carrier Air Conditioning in the sales department in Matawan. He was a member of the American Legion, Keyport. Born in Teaneck, he lived in Keyport before moving to Toms River five years ago.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Tedesco Lehman; his mother, Barbara Lehman of Toms River; two sons, Michael and Thomas Lehman of Point Pleasant; two stepchildren, Michelle and her husband Jeffrey Jackson of Toms River, and Andrew Borbotko and his fiancée Donna Vaccaro of Fairview; three brothers, Joseph Lehman of Fairlawn, Edward Lehman of Maine, and Michael Lehman of Pennsylvania; a sister, Kathy Martini of Toms River; and four grandchildren, Marissa, Jeffrey, Destiny and Dylan.

Philip E. Plancey

Long Branch resident Philip E. Plancey, whose brother and sister -in law reside in Point Pleasant, died Monday, April 16 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

He was 49 years old.

He was co-owner, along with his father of King Saw Services, Oakhurst. Philip was a member of Matt Talbot Group; North Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club, where he was an avid ice boater; and Independent Saw Shops of America.

He was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he was a life resident.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy Stowman Plancey; a son, Ian Plancey; two daughters, Ashley Plancey and Lindsey Plancey of Long Branch; his parents, Elmer and Daisy Plancey of Oceanport; a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Teresa Plancey of Point Pleasant; two grandchildren, Christopher Plancey and Nasir McCullers; a sister-in-law, Karen Voorhees; a brother-in-law, John Stowman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., Long Branch is in charge of the arrangements. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at Star of the Sea Church, Long Branch. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.

Frederick F. Roesch

Middletown resident Frederick F. Roesch, whose daughter and son-in law reside in Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, April 11 in Brick.

He was 87 years old.

He was born in Jenkintown, Pa., to Aloysius A. Roesch and Anna E. Roesch as the fifth of their nine children.

While living in Bellerose, N.Y., Mr. Roesch attended Bishop Laughlin High School, Brooklyn. In 1937, he graduated from Jamaica High School, Queens. Frederick resided in Middletown for 30 years until recently, when his residence was Sunrise Assisted Living in Brick. In 1943,

Mr. Roesch joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. He attended Pennsylvania State University for studies prepared by the Air Corps. He received the Officer’s Commission as lieutenant with Pilot Wings. He piloted the [four engine] B24 Liberator Bomber in World War II in the United States, Hawaii, New Guinea, the Philippines and Okinawa. After the war, he flew in Japan until 1946. He was honorably discharged in October 1946.

He joined Whittaker, Clark and Daniels, Inc. in January 1947 as a traffic coordinator. Promoted to sales representative, he eventually became president and CEO of WCD. He retired on Oct. 1, 1986, after 40 years of service from WCD in South Plainfield, where he also served as president and chairman of the board. He remained a board director until 1995.

Mr. Roesch enjoyed gardening, golf, travel, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.

He was predeceased by his parents, Aloysius A. and Anna E. Fleck Roesch; and his wife of 42 years, Clare Wald Roesch.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Roesch of Bedminster, Joan and her husband Thomas Jacobs of Toms River, and Carol and her husband Alan Wigert of Point Pleasant; five grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew, Timothy, Nicholas and Adrienne; and four great-grandchildren, Krista, Lia, Brianna, and Kira.

Arrangements were handled by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Interment took place at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Calvin K. Seymour Jr.

Whiting resident Calvin K. Seymour, Jr., formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, died Saturday, April 14 in Ocean Medical Center in Brick.

He was 60 years old.

Born in Elizabeth, he was raised in Point Pleasant Beach and lived in Brick for 10 years before coming to Whiting a year ago.

Mr. Seymour was employed as a warehouse manager for RYKA Associates Inc. in Lakewood.

Calvin was very active in local theater. He was a technical director and set designer for the Brick Children’s Community Theatre, and also served as a set designer for the Red Oak Music Theatre in Lakewood and the Jewish Community Center theatre productions in Ocean Township. He was also a founding member of Cabaret for Life in Asbury Park.

He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the American Legion Post 196 in Point Pleasant Beach where he served as Ocean County Adjutant.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eugenie Coble Seymour.

He is survived by his father Calvin Seymour Sr.; and his sisters, Barbara Seymour and Cheryl Paparone; his brother, Jeffrey Seymour; and his nieces and nephews, Matthew, Andrew, Samuel, Joseph, Marisa and Natalie.

Funeral arrangements were handled by O’Brien Funeral Home, BrickJ. Committal took place at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

Gunnar Svendsen

Point Pleasant resident Gunnar Svendsen died Saturday, April 14 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

He was 64 years old.

Born in Kristiansand, Norway, he came to the United States and lived in Brooklyn, New York City, moving to Point Pleasant 36 years ago.

Mr. Svendsen was a bargesman for both Hess and Moraine Oil and later was a field operator employed by Valero, Linden, for 20 years. He also was co-owner of Liv’s Kitchen Witch in Point Pleasant.

Mr. Svendsen served in the Norwegian Navy and was a former member of the Sons of Norway and the Shore Athletic Club. An avid runner, he completed the Boston Marathon in 2:38:39, at the age of 40.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Liv; his son, Gunnar C. Svendsen of Point Pleasant; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karianne and Goran Heggen of Norway, and Inger Britt and Andrew Knapp of Point Pleasant; his brother, Arne Johan Svendsen and his wife Inger Liv of Norway; and three grandchildren, Alvin, Felix and Spencer.

Arrangements were handled by the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home Point Pleasant.

Diane Macom Mullen

Spring Lake resident Diane Macom Mullen, formerly of Mantoloking, died Wednesday, April 11 in New York Presbyterian-Cornell Weill Medical Center, New York City.

She was 75 years old.

Prior to raising her family, Mrs. Mullen was a fashion model for the John Robert Powers and Frances Gill agencies in New York City. During her career, she appeared on the covers of numerous magazines, including Life, Look and Seventeen. She was also a featured model in live commercials on the “Today” show, the “Arthur Godfrey Show,” the “Arlene Francis Show” and the “Kate Smith Show.”

She was a member of the Bay Head Yacht Club, where she enjoyed playing tennis, and the Manasquan River Golf Club, where she was a dedicated member. She was a former chairwoman of the Nine Holers Club.

She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake, and was active in numerous charities, including St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick; the Society for the Prevention of Blindness; the Delbarton School Mother’s Guild, Morristown, and various organizations at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind.

Mrs. Mullen was born in New Brunswick and lived in Highland Park, Bedminster and Mantoloking before moving to Spring Lake 10 years ago.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. J. Morgan and Claire Macom; and her son, John R. Mullen Jr.

She is Survived by her husband of 53 years, John R. Mullen; two sons, Michael K. of New Vernon, and Shannon P. and his wife Eileen C. of Brick; and three daughters, Paddy Mullen of New York City, Neilli Mullen Walsh and her husband Peter of Kennett Square, Pa., and Mary Killeen Mullen of St. Petersburg, Fla. She also leaves her brother, Dr. J. Morgan Macom Jr. of Bay Head; her sister, Mary Marcia O’Connor of Merion Station, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.

Gerald J. Caggiano

Lakewood resident Gerald J. Caggiano, whose daughter and son-in law reside in Point Pleasant, died Monday, April 16 in Meridian Nursing Home, Brick

He was 72 years old.

He was originally from Manasquan and lived in Brick for 27 years before moving to Lakewood 10 years ago. He was an engineer for Conrail until his retirement. He attended Seton Hall and he served four years in the Army.

He was predeceased by his wife of 29 years, Betty Caggiano; and his mother and father, Edith and Joseph Caggiano.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Caggiano; a son, Gerald Caggiano Jr. of Brick; four daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Douglas Stirewalt of Brick, Eileen and Michael Savage of Point Pleasant, Karen and Robert Madia of Howell, and Fran and Gary Barker Sr. of Brick; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Harris, Randall and Douglas Stirewalt, Melissa and Matthew Savage, Danna, Chale and Mark Ashley Jr., Gary Jr. and Jesse Barker; two great-grandchildren, Mystina and Ashton; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Alice Caggiano of Vermont; and two nephews, Gary Jr. and Jason Caggiano.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant Beach. A small funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary by the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.

Peter E. Day

Southport, Conn. resident Peter E. Day, whose brother lives Point Pleasant,died Monday, April 9.

He was 70 years old.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y., he was raised in the Belmar area and was the son of the late George J. Day and Emily Louise Day of Point Pleasant. He had been a Southport resident for the last 10 years and a Stamford, Conn., resident for 18 years prior.

A graduate of Rutgers University, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Following military service, Mr. Day’s career included sales positions at Proctor & Gamble and Carey Brothers Food Wholesalers. He was a partner in the Wilson Plastics Company, Mineola, N.Y., and later in life served as real estate agent and member of the Fairfield Special Police Force.

In his spare time, Peter loved to fish and enjoyed time spent fishing in the Southport area.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Jeffrey S. Day of Southport, Conn., Michael P. Day of Hollis, N.H., and Stephen J. Day of Ridgefield, Conn.; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Taylor, Michaela, Mackenzie, Maxwell and Kenneth; two brothers, Thomas Day of Point Pleasant and Christopher Day of South Salem, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert S. Ryan Jr.

Lavallette resident Robert S. Ryan Jr. died Friday, March 30 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

Born in West Orange, he lived in Short Hills, Maplewood, and Point Pleasant Beach. He spent his summers at the Jersey Shore and became a permanent resident of West Point Island, Lavallette in 2001.

Mr. Ryan was a graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in business.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of VFW Post 4715, Point Pleasant.

He was a Sheriff’s Officer for the County of Essex for 25 years before retiring in 1992. Upon his retirement he became a law guardian for the State of New Jersey. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Bay Head where he also served as an usher. He was past co-president of West Point Island Civic Association and was an assistant coach for the Island Junior Baseball League. He was an avid Yankees fan, and a fisherman.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert S. and Marie Kearnan Ryan; and his sister, Jeanie Ryan, in 1997.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathleen Connors Ryan; his son, Sean M., and his daughter, Meghan, both at home.

James Richard Bell

Manasquan resident James Richard Bell, parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Bay Head, died Tuesday, April 10 in Wall.

He was 65 years old.

He was born in Rahway and lived in Madison before moving to Manasquan 33 years ago. He established his winter residence in Orchid, Fla., in 1995. He was a builder and developer for over 40 years and was the owner and operator of Oakshire Group LLC of Wall. He was formerly the president of Dayton Penn Associates Inc., Toms River, for over 20 years. He was a prominent builder in New Jersey, Florida and Hawaii.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Bay Head. He was a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club and the Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Rita Bell; and his brothers, Jack and Bill.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janis Wohkittel Bell; two sons, Craig of Weehawken and Ryan of Wilmington, Del.; two daughters, Kristin DiDomenico of Potomac Falls, Va., and Lauren Meyer of Auburn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Megan, Kevin, Elinor, AJ and Quinn.

Jennie Inzinna Oliglvy

Vero Beach, Fla. resident Jennie Inzinna Olgilvy, formerly of Lavallette, died Thursday, March 29, in Vero Beach F.

Mrs. Olgilvy was born in Kearny and moved to Vero Beach, Fla. two years ago. She spent most of her life living in Lavallette.

Mrs. Olgilvy was the past president of the Kearny High School Parent-Teacher Association and the North Arlington Women’s Club. She was an avid bridge player.

Mrs. Olgilvy was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Olgilvy, who died away in July; and her brother, Vincent Inzinna.

She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Ray Oneidas of Middletown and Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Glenn Oneidas and his wife Kristen of Middletown, and Kristin Parascand and her husband Mike of Middletown; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Camryn Oneidas and Jenna Parascand.
