National Walk For The Poor

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Martha’s Parish and St. Peter’s Church will host the annual walk to raise money for people in need. Society members, their family and friends and the general public are invited to attend. Ken the Magician will be among the walkers, so children and grandchildren are invited to join the walk and enjoy some magic. Donations are being accepted at fopwalk.org. Find the event in New Jersey at the Brick Reservoir and sign-up to donate and/or register for the walk.

Time: 10 a.m., registration begins at 9 a.m.

Boro, Bikes and Backyard BBQ's

The Point Pleasant Foundation for Excellence in Education will host a new fundraising event, Boro, Bikes and Backyard BBQ’s. The event is a self-guided bike tour of some of Point Pleasant’s finest backyards. It will give locals a chance to take in the last days of summer by biking through town, stopping and sampling local food and there is a chance to win some amazing prizes. T-shirt and map pick-up Thursday, Sept. 22, at The Shore House, 2114 Route 88, from 7 to 9 p.m. Official after-party with drinks, food and specials all night for riders in T-shirts at the Shore House. Raffles and 50/50 drawings being pulled at 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $25 registration fee, includes a T-shirt, map and food samples at each stop

Kitchens by the Sea will feature 10 beautiful kitchens in Bay Head and Mantoloking. Each kitchen will feature a local restaurant or caterer serving samples of their cuisine. Participating restaurants include: Joe Leone’s, Poached Pear Bistro, Blend on Main, Labrador Lounge, Theresa’s South, Arugula, Bay Head Cheese Shop, MonAlyssa, The River Market and Ohana Grill. The homes will also showcase floral arrangements and table settings by local designers. All proceeds benefit the Bay Head School Foundation, a nonprofit organization.
